Shopping My Garage

Now that I've had a tremendous amount of rest, I'm starting the New Year by going through a few containers of finds.  With all the purging I did last year, my abyss of a garage keeps giving birth.

This map is one of the things I unearthed.  I bought it at an estate sale a few years ago, and forgot about it.  It's most likely from the 1920's, and has a canvas back.

It also has beautiful patina, and was printed in Paris.

You can see that whoever owned it before must have had it tacked to the wall.  I decided not to tack it to the wall.  Instead, I tacked it to a ruler, and hung the ruler on the wall.

The cross you see is made of two spindles.  I painted and distressed them some time ago.  I just wasn't sure what I wanted to do with them.

I just screwed them together from the back.

I have lots of spindles.

I also came across this vintage child's robe.  I think it was in a box of fabric I purchased at another sale.

I love the handmade charm, and details.

I'll be going through boxes for the next few days.  Who knows what else I'll discover shopping my garage.  See ya soon.

  6. What I would give for a garage like that! I love the child's robe - so beautifully made and it sends the imagination wondering about the little one who wore it. Thanks for sharing the neat finds. Melinda

I love spindles - great cross! And that child's robe is so sweet! Looking forward to seeing what else you find in there! Have fun! xoxo, Leena

  14. That map is great, Rosemary. I finally got a few project ideas going in my head, so I need to get the last of the Christmas stuff packed up today {the ornaments and tree}. Then I'll get in gear. : ) I also need to make some stuff for my Etsy and I'm hoping to get to that this weekend.

I am doing the same thing and getting ready for an indoor garage sale at a local convention center and need to quit being lazy and get my etsy shop going , however just not getting good pictures like yours and that is very important

  16. You should have a "Shop the Garage" sale! You'd probably make a fortune! That map is to die for. I just bought a 1942 dictionary in a thrift shop and it has some really great old colored world maps in it. They're not big, but I love them just the same. I'm toying with taking them out and framing them. Not sure I could bear to sell them!

  18. Your post MIGHT give me inspiration to delve into my many boxes! (Or at least might guilt me into it). :) Whatever it takes is good with me. Love your blog.

  20. You're a constant source of inspiration. I wish I had your creative vision. Love the idea of using a yardstick to hang up a map. I have several old yardsticks. But I'm absolutely in love with the cross! Will you come to my house and make treasures out of my stash of items?
