Box Transformation Ideas, Part II, Open Boxes

I'm continuing on with my list of box ideas.  Today, I'm doing open boxes.  You can call them corrals, crates, bins, or whatever.

This is one of my all time favorite box redesigns.  I've been adding horseshoes to boxes for years.  With this one, I also added a fragment from a curtain rod for decoration, and vintage book pages to the interior.  I also antiqued the entire thing.  You can view the original post HERE.

This was the first horseshoe handled box I shared with you.  A little self-promotion.

A simple box, stenciled, and given metal ornamentation.  Original post HERE.

Sewing boxes are perfect candidates for redesigns.

Here are a few of my transformations.

The applique was already there on this next one.  I added the handles, and an old world finish.

Paint, stenciling, and a dimensional design tricked out this one.  Original post HERE.

I added the ornate applique to this one, and painted it for unification.

I added faux oxidation, and wine labels to these metal boxes.  Check out the before, and my faux oxidation tutorial HERE.

How about an applique and number for a carrier.

Of course you've seen what I've been doing with small drawers lately.

I could go on an on.  Seriously, I could.  However, I'll save more for another post.

  2. You have some great ideas on how to transform plain boxes and drawers. I think they would make a pretty planter in the center of a kitchen or dining room table. So many great uses!

  10. Just beautiful! Even though they have your 'signature' look, each is so unique with the added touches. I just got four lidded boxes for $3.00 this weekend. I have just stared at them. Can you come over and paint them for me :)

I am so in sink with your creative side. Like I have said before or tastes and creating is so much alike. I too have used book ephemera to line that back sides and faces of boxes and such, yet I have yet to have worked with horse shoes yet, you make it look so creative.

Rosemary do you ever think you will not have another creative idea in your head. Well, as far as I can see your ideas are flowing over in abundance .

See you soon and all the beauty you inspire.
