Watch The Birdie

This birdie box started out pretty much like this one.

A while back, I purchased a box full of cuckoo clock parts at the flea market.

I liked the birds and knew I could do something with them.

Vintage silverware boxes are one of my favorite things to redesign. Like this one.

After removing the interior, I attached one of my birds and painted the box white. I gave it a little distressing and kind of left it that way for a while. You can see it here in one of my previous posts.

After a while, I decided I didn't want it white, but subtle shades of soft blue and white. So, I alternated blue and white paint and gave it a light sanding.

I added a little crystal knob....

and wallpapered the interior.

She can now work as a dresser box, a place for the remote, or storage for any other small item.

I have special plans for this box. Check back soon to see what it is.

  1. That is beautiful Rosemary, I love the bird! When you have a chance will you do me a big favor and visit my blog. I need help with some faux tiles I bought, I want to somehow make them look rusty but they're polystyrene so I have no clue how to go about it!
