Shabby Mirror Finds

"They're kinda rough".  That's what the shop owner said, when I asked if the two mirrors she had buried under a pile of stuff was for sale.

Then, she stared at me.

"Are they for sale?", I asked again, kindly.

"I guess so, if you want them", she responded.

Well, yes I did.

All I've done, is clean them up.  I love, love, love the imperfections,

The distressed silvering, the rust.......

One of them has, what looks to be a postmark in the silvering.  So cool.

So, how about you?

Do you love the perfectly imperfect?

Needless to say, I got them for a VERY  good price.

See ya soon.

  16. It's so interesting how some of us appreciate the imperfect isn't it? I found a mirror with some of the backing peeling away and the girl at the counter said, "I guess it's so cheap because it's no good any more" ...oh my....it's a good thing God doesn't say that about me! What with all my bad spots and everything......keep on saving the throwaways....like HE does! blessings!

  17. Love them, I have purchased old mirrors for inside of my dish cabinets
Those are beautiful much prettier than my etching mirrors

I have learned true antique dealers think these are trash items, I have been told by antique dealers today's collectibles are trash ! That's OK by me I love em
And of course the price always is fun also

bring on the trashy beautiful mirrors

  21. Rosemary, The mirrors are wonderful. I would use a mirror like the one (or both) on table tops laying flat. Some of us aged items (like me) still reflect beauty. Love you and your ideas. Blessings

  26. They are perfectly gorgeous! Way nicer than anything *new*. I have an old, distressed "ghost" mirror with heavy gesso details at the top of it, and it is lovely, but these two of yours take the cake. Wonderful!
