Playing With Scraps

We hit 100 degrees as forecast.  Yuck.  Plus, my blood pressure was a little weird today.  So, I hung out inside playing with scraps.  I have lots of fabric and lace fragments.

I made a little pillow with grain sack material.

The rose was made with a lace scrap, and a vintage button.  It makes a nice embellishment.

I found these little baskets at an estate sale.

This is what I did with one of them.

I stamped the lettering and chandelier image on a scrap of fabric, and decoupaged it.  I wanted an old grungy look, so I dry brushed grey on the basket.  I then did a light brushing over the fabric.

Great for a bundle of lavender.

The weather sorta forced me to rest a bit.  Is it hot in your neck of the woods?  We're suppose to have a little relief, then, hot again.  I'm so looking forward to Autumn.  See ya soon.

  1. Love your pillow with the rose! We've been having unusually overcast weather in Santa Barbara. Which is fine with me. I think I would melt into a puddle in the heat you describe. We're having a bit of a drought so overcast keeps the fire danger lower. Love you creativity...keep us the great posts!

  8. Cute pillow and baskets. It's been ridiculously hot and humid, even first thing in the morning. So I just remember to be thankful for AC and ample drinking water. I just wish we'd get some rain.

  9. I never see you sew---I love the pillow! That lace rose is really sweet.

It is in the 80's here...but super humid. Just hanging out drinking ice tea and getting nothing done.

  10. Sounds like you had a successful day and a much need slow down break. Love what you did with the basket and the pretty pillow made from scraps. I don't do well in the heat. We've had some cooler than normal temps the last couple of days, but heating up again before the weekend.
    Take care of you!!!

  11. Goodwill was overflowing with baskets when I was there yesterday, Rosemary. I thought I found a great one but the bottom seemed a bit wonky. Now I'm thinking I should have gotten in anyway. It would have been perfect for a french label. I love the fabric label you added to yours. Your lace flower is beautiful! I haven't given that a try yet. I'm sure mine would come out looking more like a trampled weed!

Too hot here, too. The humidity is horrible. I think the heat index had us at 100 again. We are supposed to get rain and I really hope we do!

Hope your blood pressure is better. Extreme heat makes it rise, sometimes considerably. Stay in where it is cool and avoid the outside if you can.
