More Color Please

I don't have a fireplace mantel, so I create Christmas vignettes on surfaces throughout my house.  Although my husband and two teen sons have been very nice about my silver and white Christmas "mantels", my sixteen year old asked if I was going to do vignettes with a little more "COLOR" in them. LOL.  Of course I was.  Here's one I put together on the low chest next to my desk in the living room.  I use it as a filing cabinet, and it has a great surface for display.

These are items I already had.  I dressed my demijohn with a small wreath from a garage sale.   The rest of the vignette consists of one of my vintage frames, thrift store silver bucket, eucalyptus wreath, tarnished silver tray, my carrier from the post seen here, free pine branches,  and dried roses.

The green and red floral details in the frame work for Christmas.  You don't have to have traditional Christmas items to create a festive feel.

I still have silver mixed in, but the wood, wicker, and greenery gives this vignette an earthy quality.

Although the vignettes in my studio are on the monotone side, I tried to add in darker colors and textural elements to ground them as well.  You saw the vignette I created on top of my chippy cabinet.  I mixed lavender in to break up the silver and white.

I shared the vignette on top of my little mantel in my last post.  Still silver and white, but the bottle brush wreath and baby's breath gives it texture, and the silver tones vary.

My tree is coming along.  Lots of silver and white on that baby.  I'll share it with you soon.
