SPECIAL FARRAGOZ PAINT COURSE OFFER for VILLABARNES FOLLOWERS

As most of you may know, I have been following the work of Tania at FARRAGOZ (This post contains an affiliate link) for the last 6 years (since they started). We bonded over our mutual love of old world weathered finishes with beautiful patina.

I've used the FARRAGOZ paint treatment on a multitude of surfaces.  I love the results.

If you want to learn how to make your own paint, apply it to your paint projects, and achieve fantastic old world patina, I would suggest you consider doing a course. As an added incentive, I'm very excited to announce that FARRAGOZ is offering an exclusive 34% DISCOUNT SPECIAL OFFER on the Patina FINISHES Course to followers of VILLABARNES. There is a limit to the number of discounts offered.  So, if you're not familiar with FARRAGOZ or if you are familiar and have been wanting to give the course a try, here's your chance.

I'll let my friends at FARRAGOZ take it from here.

Please watch this video to understand what these furniture painting courses are all about.

26 Sample Boards

The FARRAGOZ Patina FINISHES Course will teach you how to recreate 26 specific furniture paint finishes on sample boards that will look authentically old.

Online Course

Most furniture painting courses have classes to attend in person. FARRAGOZ courses are not like that. Both coursework and support are online. The advantage of this is that you can start whenever it suits you. You can work at your own pace where and when you wish. You will have no classes that can be missed. No exams and tests to study for or time limits for handing in projects. There is no set time in which to complete a module. The majority of our students have jobs or other commitments and only do this course part-time. We don't like students to feel pressured. We all have enough of that in our lives. This is an opportunity to relax, to have fun and to broaden your knowledge and skills. When we started FARRAGOZ, we only offered 12 months support thinking the pressure would be an incentive for students to finish. However, we concluded that this was counterproductive. We now offer lifetime course access and support and our students love it.

Course Layout

Everything happens on the course site. After enrolling, you will receive emails with your login details to this site. You will log in and open the first unit. At the end of each unit, you will click a "Complete" button. This way you will always know where you are even if you take a long break. There are 26 finishes that you can recreate in any order. Each finish is broken down into tiny steps that will show you how to make the paint, how to distress and seal it all the way to uploading your final photos. After reproducing a sample board, you will be ready to paint a piece of furniture using the techniques you've just learnt. Each step will have a short video clip of a few seconds to a few minutes or an image. Below this, you will find very detailed instructions. The videos can be replayed as often as you like. They are silent, allowing non-native English speaking students to translate the text and students with hearing impairments to easily follow along.

Support

All technical or course support questions are answered via Live Chat on the site. You can ask as many questions as often as you like. We try to be online and available as much as possible. If we are offline, you can leave a message. This will create a ticket that we will answer as soon as we can. We understand that if you're in the middle of a painting process, you need help immediately and not days later. For this reason, we changed our support platform from email to Live Chat a year ago. The result has been happier students and happier support staff.

Groups

As a student, you will have the option to join a support group. Here you can ask other students for help with the coursework as well as your furniture projects that use FARRAGOZ methods and recipes. You can upload images of your work in progress and share tips like where to find certain materials at better prices in your area. We encourage members of the groups to participate by helping and encouraging others. Everybody needs a little moral support or advice from time to time.

Recipes And Techniques

FARRAGOZ uses very old paint recipes from hundreds of years ago. These are the same recipes used for the paints that you see on antiques that still have their original finish. That is the look we teach students to recreate and for that, you need to use the same paints and merely speed up the ageing process. These paints are initially easy to distress. However, once cured and sealed correctly, they become just as durable as antique paint.

Materials And Tools

The ingredients for making your own paints, stains, etc., are all very basic and inexpensive. They are mostly available from hardware stores and supermarkets. Some of it you may already have in the kitchen. There are only a few items, like powder colour pigments, that you may have to get from an art supplier or order online. We can point you in the right direction. Once you're signed up, you'll have access to the shopping list and more information about each item, as well as where to shop at low prices if you don't already have it in your fridge, kitchen cupboard or workroom.

Certificate

Most students start painting furniture almost immediately after they have completed a few sample boards. As time goes by, they come back to other finishes as needed or to gain more experience. Your finishes will not be graded as such. However, if you complete all the modules and upload images of your completed boards, we will be delighted to reward you with a certificate of completion.

Suitable For Beginners

The Patina FINISHES Course was designed with absolute beginners in mind. That means you do not need any previous painting experience. This makes the course ideal for hobby furniture up-cyclers. However, as you can judge from the sample boards you will recreate, the course is suitable for more professional furniture paint artists wanting to set themselves apart.

Do You Have Questions?
