Glazed Chandelier

This chandelier was calling my name at an estate sale. It was buried under newspaper, in a box, at the back of the garage. All I could see was a sliver of one of its arms, but I knew if it was intact, it was coming home with me.

This is the before. Very dull, and not enough bling.

I transformed my candelabra style table lamp with silver. I wanted to do something different with the chandelier. So, I decided to give it a white glaze, with the original finish peeking through. I dry brushed the glaze on, and added extra crystals from my stash.

What do you think?

  1. I am always impressed by your projects! The silver sure brings out the crystals...is it silver paint?

  6. Your chandelier is Spanish. Made around in the 1960's. Was very popular then, sold at Sears and other department stores, like Pennys or Montgomery Wards. I remember an add for one at Sears when I was in collage. $69.00. I think the white paint made it look very now. Enjoy. Richard from my Old Historic House.

  18. That is SO beautiful, Rosemary! I love it! I just bought a pretty standard brass chandelier - no loops and curlicues like yours - but I want to de-electrify it, paint it, add crystals and candles, and mount it on the ceiling in our bedroom. We have no light fixture in the bedroom and I really don't need it for the light - I just want the fixture. Did yours have holes already in place for all those crystals? If not, did you drill holes? Any suggestions on how to add them to a brass chandelier? Thanks for all your inspiration!

  19. I should add - we have no CEILING light fixture! We DO have lamps in the bedroom! LOL!
