A Light Break

This past week was extremely busy for me. Hunting and gathering at estate, garage and city-wide sales, an antique show, and my redesign yesterday. I'm still recovering.

So, I decided to take it a little easy and do some organizing and smaller redesigns today. As I worked, I realized that my paint color of choice and everything I sorted through seemed to be in various shades of white and cream.

The firescreen above was black when I got it. I gave it a grey/blue undertone and went over it with a white wash. I think the roses have more character with the multi-layering.

The frames in these shots.....

started out with this horrifying finish.

I'm sorry, does anyone out there like this speckled mess? I gave them a dark undertone, and did a worn white finish.

Here are a few items I picked up at sales this past week.

Love the florals on these two wall hangings......

and this vintage carrier, with architectural bits.

Another busy week ahead. My son graduates from High School tomorrow, and a pile of furniture awaits redesign, followed by more hunting, gathering...........

  3. Beautiful frames, I can use them for my gallery wall. I'm actually looking for a couple of round frames. And no, I don't like that speckled mess either, reason why I also painted my frames. Congratulations to your son on his graduation!

  4. Beautiful finds. I can't say I ever get that lucky. But I might start venturing further for community sales. I like hitting 10 in an hour. Do you really seam to have luck at estate sales?

  9. Love what a little paint can do! That firescreen is so romantic with all that detail work. Funny about the speckled mess - we picked up a piano off craigslist that was covered in that speckled mess. Horrifying. I've been slowly stripping it off. Thanks for sharing.

I'm hosting my monthly Before Blogging Throwback Thursdays party and would love it if you linked up something you made/did/bought before blogging. The link will be open til next week. Can't wait to see what you bring to the party.
