The GOOD The Bad The Ugly Weather

First, the good.  I'll explain why I look a bit worn out in a minute.

The above photo is from the Morris Daily Herald.  You can read the article HERE.

My demo at the Three French Hens market this past Saturday went well. However, before that happened, THIS happened.

Yes, on the way to the market, in a driving rainstorm, my drive shaft broke.  My friend Rhonda was with me, and, we prayed as I managed to get to the shoulder.  I have great road service. I told them they would have to tow me to the market, and, I would call for another tow after it was over. That's right, there was no turning around at this point. Rhonda called her husband to meet us while we waited for the tow truck.  Once the truck arrived, Rhonda and Roger proceeded to the market, and, I rode along with the tow truck guy.

I was late for the start of the market, and, it was pouring rain. A tent was there for me, but, it had somewhat of a malfunction, and, we spent a good deal of time dumping water off the roof of the tent.  Quite a bit of which flew back at us.

Are you picturing all of this yet?  Cause, under the circumstances, I have no photos.

Imagine fishermen on a stormy sea.

The rain didn't lighten up till it was time for me to head over to Traci's shop for the transfer demonstration. I felt like a dish rag at this point.

Rhonda manned the booth, while I attended the luncheon.  She did quite well during my absence. We completed what was left of the market, packed, and, I waited for my next tow.

I stood there by my van, after all the vendors had packed and gone.  This was the scene. No rain, no thunder, no lightening.  Seriously? LOL

Once home, I was grateful Rhonda and I were not hit by one of the trucks flying by us on the road. Thank you Lord.  They were WAY TOO CLOSE.   I was grateful for good friends, with a great since of humor, who endured the ordeal with me.  I was grateful for positive feedback from those who attended the luncheon.  I was grateful for a hot shower.

My van is in the shop.

So, I've had a few days rest.  Now, per request, I'm having another sale this Thursday, Friday, and, Saturday. I don't have to drive anywhere, and the weather forecast looks great.

See ya soon.

  1. I am happy you are ok as well as your loyal friend who was with you. Maybe someday I can see your transfer technique. You could do a video for us -- hint. You are remarkable and I know all will be fine. Love you, Nancy

  4. Those of the kind of days that make us most thankful when we DON'T have those kind of days! Glad you survived it with your humor and good attitude intact!

  5. Hi Rosemary,

I just became a new follower of yours here on blogger. What an ordeal you had! I am very glad to know you are safe and sound. Having a good friend with you helps so much when these things happen. God was watching out for you! Glad to know despite everything that your time at the Market was a success. Love and hugs to you...Susan Howes Rix

  6. You poor girl. What a day for you. You continue to amaze me, though, with your tenacity and determination to march on creating your treasures and attending shows. You rock, Rosemary!

  9. My goodness, Rosemary! You are a stronger person than me. I could just see myself having a mini-meltdown after all that. Or at least some wine, a hot bath and an early night. : )

  10. Thankfully you are safe and well. What an ordeal to experience. Before I read the backstory I just thought you looked adorable in the photo. Now I know you look fabulous in the photo in spite of all you had to endure that day. Blessings...

  11. That was crazy and I am so happy you made it home safe. Your Rhonda sounds like a gem.

  12. Oh Rosemary! I am so sorry about your van!! Just what you didn't need. ugh. LOVE the photo with you in it and sure wish I was there taking that class!!

  14. Remember to save the broken shaft to add some kind of delicious finish to! You must have a strong faith and a great sense of humor because I would have had a class A meltdown.

  16. I just read your blog, and holy mackeral. lucky, and thank God you were safe. but what a fiasco. I was so there with your story, it was surreal. so brush yourself (yourselves) off, and go forward. look forward to hear good stuff...ugh!!!

  19. Oh Rosemary you poor thing. You just did not have any good luck this past week end. I was actually out for the French Hen's Market and it was raining so I stayed in the shops with a lot of others waiting for the rain to slow down. I saw Traci setting up for your wonderful class. The table looked so cute. Glad she had that space inside to have the class and lunch. I bet you had a great time. I did get a few things at the market in the rain LOL!

  20. Car troubles are no fun! I hope everything is fixed up and all better. Have a great sale!

  21. I don't know how you do what you do, even without car trouble! Get some rest!

  22. Yikes Rosemary, glad you were safe with the car situation. Sounds like you made the most of the challenging day! You have a great attitude :)
