Panel Play

I wanted to show you how you can use variations on the same idea to create a  different feel.

Back in October, I did a post  entitled  "Redesigning With Parts II", in which I made a decorative rack using a salvaged panel, and old window sash locks.  I gave it a heavily distressed finish.

The sash locks served as hooks, and the feel was somewhat rustic.

This past weekend, I gave one of the other  panels my "Old World" finish with a blue/grey undertone, and white gesso wash.  I used crystal knobs as the hooks.  Instead of a hanger on the back, I added a chain with eye hooks.  I didn't do a lot of distressing.  I just lightly sanded the swag details to reveal some of the white underneath.  This one has a softer, romantic feel.

You can see the panels in the lower left hand corner of this photo.  Originally, I gave them a solid white finish.  They were just going to be decorative wall hangings, but I decided to make them functional.

Two panels, same idea, different looks.

So, which look do you prefer?   Rustic?  Romantic?  Solid White?   I will probably do something completely different with the other panel.

I love all the different looks, but my favorite would have to be the old world romantic finish. Lovely.

Gosh! It's hard to pick a favorite. I like the plain white, but also the more distressed look too. I think they're all fabulous. Is all that stuff outside yours too? I love some of the other pieces that are shown too.

I love that you painted the wall hangings with two different looks. I think I like the rustic look the best. They both look aged.

It amazes me how your mind can see different fabulous options for these transformations. I think my favourite is the rustic version. Makes me want to gather lavender on the hillside. Excited to see what the third one becomes.

Love both but I would go with rustic and put the chain detail on it. I ' m a heavy metal kind of girl. Fabulous job!

Hi Rosemary!
I had found your blog some time ago and sooo loved it!
The problem was - I forgot to bookmark it and couldn't find you again.
So I find it such a luck that you ever stopped at my blog and made it possible for me to 're-discover' you!
I think you're most talented and you leaving a comment for me is humbling :)
Love the panels and I'm sure there is much more for me to see after missing your posts for a while.

So, I'm busy! Cheers!
